Greetings NEW SCOUTS and parents -- I am one of the new assistant scout masters (ASM) helping out our Troop 149 leadership. As new ASMs will assist the new scout patrols and older troop guides with the physical fitness assessment (test) for the first rank of Tenderfoot. SO....
On Sunday, April 6 at 4:00 PM, the new patrols' troop guides and assistant scout masters will be available at Washington and Lee High School track to test new scouts for the first physical fitness test required for Tenderfoot. This is requirement 10a. Just over 30 days later we will test again to fulfill the requirement. (Date to be determined, but likely another Sunday evening in May.)
This shouldn't last more than 45 minutes if everyone arrives on time and is ready to go. Scouts should obviously be dressed with running shoes and shorts. Here are the four activities where the new scouts have to be tested for Tenderfoot:
- 1/4 mile run on the W&L track
- pull-ups
- pushups
- sit ups.

*** Getting this first part done in this group event will make it much easier to get this requirement, because it obviously takes a few older Troop members to manage and record scores. This is the best possible time for the majority of people.
QUESTIONS?----For SCOUTS: please contact any of your Scout leadership, starting with the Patrol Leaders, Troop Guides and your Senior Patrol Leader (Scott Atkins). For PARENTS, if you have questions, please contact me or any of the new scout Assistant Scout Masters helping our youth leadership. To avoid emailing everyone (i.e. - the older scouts and their parents who went through this when they joined), my contact info is below.

Again, this will meet PART ONE (of 2 parts) of requirement 10a. The idea is to do YOUR best, work out/exercise a bit between the two tests, and show IMPROVEMENT for part 2.
