Theo N's Eagle Scout Project -- Sign up TODAY!

Hi Troop 149!

My name is Theo N and I will be holding my Eagle Project work days on August 6 (1-3pm), 7 (10-2), and 16 (10-12). For my Eagle Project I will be leading the collection of basic dental hygiene supplies, such as toothbrushes, toothpaste, and floss, from dentists, orthodontists and drug stores (like CVS) for donation to the Arlington Free Clinic--a non-profit organization that provides free health and dental care to those most in need in Arlington.

My project is broken down into three workdays:

Sunday August 6th (1-3pm): Assembly of the donation boxes

On this day we will be assembling the donation boxes that we will bring to more than 50 dentists and orthodontists during the canvas the following day. Due to the need for 50+ boxes for the canvas and drug store drive, it would be great if all project helpers could bring as many 18 x 12 x 6 boxes as possible (or any box roughly close to those dimensions, a picture is attached for your reference).

The assembly of the boxes will be held at my house. Snacks and refreshments will be provided.

Monday August 7th (10-2): Canvas of dentists, orthodontists, and drug store drive

This project day is where we will be canvassing local dentists and orthodontist for donations of dental hygiene supplies.

How it will work:

There will be four groups of project helpers, corresponding to the four canvas zones (map attached to this e-mail for reference). We will meet at the Cherrydale church parking lot where I will distribute the donation boxes, maps of the zones, and provide more detailed information on the dentists and orthodontists you will be canvassing. Each group will break out and begin canvassing, which I will describe in more detail on the day of the project. The basic gist is that each group of scouts will approach the offices of the dentists and orthodontists, provide a quick pitch on the dental supply drive, and then (if they are willing to participate), give the dentist/orthodontist practice a donation box which will then be picked up on the 16th.

While the four zones are relatively close to Cherrydale, I will still need at least four drivers!

Snacks and refreshments will be provided.

August 16th  (10-12): Collection of the donated items

Similar to the canvas, there will be four groups of workers. Instead of asking for donations, each group will simply pick up the donation boxes full of the hygiene supplies from the participating dentists, orthodontists, and drug stores and bring them back to Cherrydale for delivery to the Arlington Free Clinic.

Snacks and refreshments will be provided.

I need all the help I can get so please sign up for any (or all!) of the days listed above by following the sign-up link below.

I know this was a long e-mail so thank you for reading to the end.

I hope to see you all there!
