Klondike Derby 2019

Challenge your patrol at the Klondike Derby!

Troop 149 will try to send some patrols for the first time in a long time to the 2019 Klondike Derby! This will be held Saturday, February 2nd, at Camp Highroad in Middleburg VA.

Here is the description from the Chain Bridge District:

The Klondike Derby is a challenging midwinter contest of teamwork and Scouting skills. A Patrol challenge course that will test your leadership and teamwork and your skills in First Aid, Camping, Pioneering, Orienteering & Scout Knowledge. Come out for the day or winter camp overnight. Chain Bridge District’s Klondike Derby is the Patrol Method in action – with sleds! Are you up to the challenge?
Your “team” (patrol or crew) will pull a dog sled you have built yourself (ahead of time) over a course through woods and fields. Your sled is loaded with the equipment you will need for the day’s activities. The trail will take you to a number of Klondike "towns" spread along the route. Upon arriving at each "town," you should formally report to the town mayor who assigns you a task.  The challenges at the towns are fun activities that test your skills, your ability to work together as a team, your leadership and your scout spirit.
We will arrive early on Saturday for sled check-in, and then Scouts will test their outdoor skills. We'll head home Saturday afternoon.
Although this is the same weekend as Scout Sunday and Rise Against Hunger, we are hoping to send at least 1 or 2 patrols to compete. Please sign up by January 21st so we can know how many sleds and sets of equipment to assemble!
Here are documents to study prior to attending!
