Scouting for Food--November 2 and 9, 2019

It's time for Scouting For Food (SFF) 2019!  This is a great chance to be part of an effective, social service to your community.  It’s fun, and doesn’t take too much time, especially when we have big participation. Adult participation is needed and participation from siblings/friends is welcome!

Saturday, November 2nd—Post-It note distribution. We will meet at the Church (3701 Lorcom Ln Arlington, VA 22207) parking lot at 9AM sharp (cars load up and head out quite quickly), where neighborhood assignments will be given to groups, who will place Post-It notes onto residential doors with the details of the food drive.  WE NEED ADULTS to drive the kids into the neighborhoods. It usually only takes about 45 minutes for teams to complete their jobs.

Saturday, November 9th—food collection. We will meet at the Dorothy Hamm Middle School (formerly HB Woodlawn) (4100 N. Vacation Lane Arlington, VA 22207) circular driveway at 9AM sharp (cars load up and head out quite quickly), where neighborhood assignments will be given to groups, who will collect the donations and return them to Dorothy Hamm Middle School.  WE NEED ADULTS to drive the kids into the neighborhoods. It usually only takes about 45 minutes for teams to complete their jobs. Return to Dorothy Hamm Middle School to consolidate the donations into one or two cars which then will take them to the drop off site.

It is truly remarkable how much food gets donated and moved. The more the merrier, and many Scouts, parents and friends means increased efficiency!
