Rehobeth Luxury Campout - Jan 23 – 25

Rehobeth Luxury Campout - Jan 23 – 25

Here's a quick summary of what we typically do.  There are one (or two) houses, across the street from one another, in an oceanfront  community in Rehobeth, DE.

Friday night, plan to leave the Church no later than 5pm – it’s a long drive - brown bag dinner.

Saturday, we get up, have breakfast and head to the beach in Ocean City, MD; a 20 minute drive away.  Yes, it's January and there won't be any swimming (not that there never has been) or tanning.  Maybe some Frisbee, football or who knows.  Then we "hike" the entire stretch of the boardwalk, which is about 2 miles.  At the end of the hike we are surrounded by arcades and junk food establishments.  Lunch will be purchased there.  Scout's should bring along $$$ for lunch and for the arcades.  It's up to the parents how much the scouts spend at the arcades.  $20 ??

Other money matters:  The scouts should bring $20 for their food; adults $25.  There will be only one adult grubmaster, Tom, and this money should make it to him on Friday night.   The additional $5/scout (above and beyond the $15 that we usually ask for) should cover the cost of the seafood feast we all eat together on Saturday night.

Back to the schedule:  After the arcades and we're all broke and have exchanged our winning coupons for plastic swords, candy or ???, then we head out for a visit to Assateague State Park on the ocean, south of Ocean City or go on some other adventure.  Exhaustion is setting in by this time so we then buy the makings for the joint dinner, including the seafood.  Hopefully, they'll have live crabs or, if not, we'll have lobsters.  It's a tough life. For those not seafood orientated, there will be other options; possibly chili.

Sunday, we get up, clean the houses and head home after a quick cold breakfast.  We'll have the scouts call their parents to arrange a timely  pick up.  We're usually home by 1pm or so.

Other Tid-Bits of Interest:

Gear:  1.  Make sure you bring a pad and sleeping bag.  We sleep “ON” the beds, if you are lucky enough to get one.
             2.  Everything to eat with and eat on is provided.
             3.  This is the only trip where electronics are allowed.  Don't expect fancy TVs to hook your box up to.  Talk to someone who's been there for specifics.  BRING MONITORS, IF POSSIBLE.

 That's it for now.
