Stop Hunger Now and Scout Sunday - Feb 8th

Good Evening Troop 149 Scouts and Parents-

Just want to make sure you are getting Sunday February 8 on your calendars. We have 2 Troop activities planned with our sponsoring organization, Cherrydale UMC.  The first is Scout Sunday, where the church invites the Troop and the Pack to participate in worship.  After the service will be lunch and then we will go right into our service project of helping to package 30,000 meals through Stop Hunger Now. Please come to both events, but if you can only make one, that is fine too.

Scout Sunday - 10:30 - Noon

As you all know, Cherrydale UMC is our chartering organization and Troop and Pack 149 would not exist without their support and sponsorship,  Scout Sunday is celebrated each year on the second Sunday in February which is very close to the anniversary of scouting in the US.  This service both allows us to say thank you to the church and to share the the experience of scouting with the congregation.  All Scouts are encouraged to come since Scout Sunday has nothing to do with what religion you follow or practice.  This is about respect for and thanks to our sponsoring organization.  For those of  you new to the Troop, the church is always excited to see the Scouts and welcomes their participation in the service. Aside from the message from the Pastor, Scouts will be leading the rest of the service. Which keeps it fun and interesting. We ask Scouts and families to arrive at 10;30 to help hand out programs and get ready for the Scout flag ceremony which starts the service.   All are invited to stay for lunch after the service and then to participate in the Stop Hunger Now service project

Stop Hunger Now - Noon until 3 PM

Once again the church, Troop 149 and Pack 149 are partnering to pack 30,000 meals through a Stop Hunger Now Meal Packaging Event. There are jobs for all: Scouts, parents, grandparents, younger siblings.  It is an amazing activity and we need everybody. And it is fun! Information about the Stop Hunger Now organization  and meal packaging events can be found at http://www.stophungernow.org/

For both the church service and the service project we ask Scouts to wear Class A uniforms.
