Canoeing Trip : Sept 18-20

We have arranged to camp overnight on Friday and Saturday at the base of Outdoor Excursions, a paddling school, located on Antietam Creek near Boonsboro, MD. We have camped there before many times and it is a great site. Canoe instruction will be provided by guides during the day on Saturday. This is a great way to get introduced to canoeing or continue your paddling prowess. If you are 16 or older, or have earned the Kayaking Merit Badge, you can choose to be on a sit-on-top one man kayak.  Everything canoe related will be provided: Canoes, kayaks, paddles and lifejackets, trailers, instruction and guides, local transportation for our group. We take off from the campsite on the creek, then get bussed back at the end of the day.

Camping will be on their large grassy field along the creek with a covered dining pavilion, fire pit, creek access, running water and an outhouse.

Meals: We will all bring a bag dinner on the way out Friday. Patrols will plan meals. Saturday Breakfast, Lunch (on the river – plan accordingly!) and then Dinner back at camp. Cold Sunday breakfast.

Note: Everyone who participates in the canoeing must be a swimmer and have already passed the BSA swim test within the last 12 months (no earlier than September 18, 2014). We will do swim tests the weekend prior if needed.
