Guns-Arrows-2015 Oct 16-18

This trip is a tradition for Troop 149. For many years, scouts and parents have made this one of our most popular outings with generally the highest attendance of any of our monthly campouts.

BSA has a high standard for Shooting Sports which the Troop completely follows. Feel free to browse the BSA Shooting Sports Manual. In attendance on this trip will be NRA-trained Instructors and Range Safety Officers for Rifle and Shotgun Shooting and USA Archery / National Field Archery Association trained Archery Instructors and Range Safety Officers.   Safety is an obsession on this trip and discipline on all the ranges is STRICTLY enforced.

We will have a training session for Rifle Shooting, Shotgun Shooting and Archery at the October 5th Troop Meeting. Attendance is mandatory at this meeting for all going on the campout. Please review these training presentations before that meeting:
As the name Guns and Arrows suggests, we spend Saturday on three different ranges; archery, rifle and shotgun. For archery and rifle, we'll be shooting at targets. For shotgun, we'll be shooting skeet/clay pigeons.

All equipment (rented, mostly) and ammo will be purchased beforehand and attendees will pay for it as part of the camping fee collected by the Troop. Estimated total cost per
person: $35 per person, plus usual grubmaster fees of $15 for each Scout and $20 for each adult.

Once again we will be holding our trip at Camp Sinoquipe where we have attended Summer camp for the last 4 years.  All scouts will be sleeping in a large lodge (with a wood stove), unless they choose to use tents. Adults will use tents.

Please sign up below AS SOON AS POSSIBLE.
We must include all attending adults and Scouts on the Tour Permit.  Please make a check payable to Boy Scout Troop 149 for $35 and bring to any Troop Meeting.  Also, bring a signed permission slip for each Scout.
