Rock Climbing Campout -- May 12-14

UPDATE: Rock Climbing has been cancelled due to weather forecast and light Scout turnout.

Our May campout is a new one--rock climbing!

We'll leave May 12 and will drive all of 20 minutes to the Marsden Tract campgrounds right by Great Falls. It's so close, that we can probably just get dropped off and parents can go back home. In fact, it's so close that it's tempting to HIKE there and actually backpack. But I'm talking crazy talk now. Anyhow, a really close campground so not a gigantic long drive (that will come in June with the whitewater rafting campout).

On Saturday we plan on going to Carderock for rock climbing! We'll be instructed by Uwe Kirste, a friend of Mr. Hunt. More details on this as they become available. This is walkable from our campground.

Contingency activities include hiking the Billy Goat Trail!

We'll return Sunday and since we're so close, we'll be home early enough to have most of your day free.

Fees are to be determined. Please check the blog posting for an updated cost. Since the campgrounds are very reasonable it probably won't be much more than $10. But check the blog. As always, make checks available to Boy Scout Troop 149, and as always, bring $15 in cash for your grubmaster. Also as always, bring a filled-out permission slip (link available on right-hand side of blog).

Thanks! Hope to see you at the campout!
